Our Story: A Railroading Lifestyle

SilverLakeTrain.jpg

For many years, this location operated Silver Lake Railroad, a laid-back “speeder-train”tourist line operating in Silver Lake, N.H. on state-owned track once operated by the Boston & Maine Railroad.

The “new” Silver Lake Railriders proposes to give tours on pedal-powered track vehicles “railbikes” for customers to ride on the state’s rail corridor by leasing a three-mile stretch starting on Silver Lake Station’s property and ending at Boulder Road. This will allow for a six-mile round trip ride starting and ending behind the historic Silver Lake Depot.  The very same ride Silver Lake Railroad gave for 11 years!

The proprietor, Henry “Hank” Walther — brings ample experience in rail excursion ventures to the fold. He recently served as the initial railbike manager and
also a hi-rail operator at the Essex Steam Train in Essex, CT., he is NORAC qualified, as well as a member of various rail user groups including CVRTC and understands the importance of safety being #1!
